OFweek Industrial Control Network News: According to a report by Singapore's "Business Times" on April 17, Singapore wants to build all domestic factories into the world's most competitive, efficient and creative factories.

This is an ambitious and bold goal, said Lim Kwok-keung, assistant director of the Singapore Economic Development Board. However, Singapore is gradually achieving this goal by building a high-end manufacturing industry. On the one hand, Singapore's manufacturing industry is at a turning point, and the current development trend is sufficient to enter the period of industrial 4.0.

According to the report, high-end manufacturing integrates new automation technologies, such as robotics, additive manufacturing, automated guided vehicles, and industrial Internet of Things such as cloud computing, augmented reality, and machine learning. Lin Guoqiang said that all existing factories in Singapore can become the most competitive factories in the world by adopting the above technologies. This will also enable the manufacturing industry to continue to contribute 20% to Singapore's economic development.

According to reports, the Singapore Future Economic Council believes that high-end manufacturing is one of the key growth points for Singapore. Through the research, innovation and enterprise 2020 program, the Singapore government has allocated 3.2 billion Singapore dollars (about RMB 15.68 billion) for the development of high-end manufacturing and engineering technology.

Lim said, "Singapore has a huge manufacturing base, so we are not starting from scratch." Today's manufacturing industry is no longer just competing for labor costs, so these companies must constantly explore new ways and actively adopt new technologies to improve manufacturing.

According to the report, the integration of technology and digitalization can make factories smarter. But Lin Yongqiang said that each factory must find its own way to use technology. At the same time, he also stressed that factories should spend time constantly running in with new technologies to improve production efficiency. The use of new technologies will not only make factories smarter, but also provide more new possibilities, such as producing more diversified products and developing new business models such as customized products.
